Before we we confuse anyone, this is not an article about Google Adsense. In our view, a business selling a product or selling a service while using Google Adsense on their website does so at their own risk. The truth of the matter is, while you can use filters with Google Adsense, customers can still be swayed to leave your site on the very topics you are trying to capture the business on. At Mark8t, we use Google Adsense on our blog, because it offers an opportunity for you to see services related to what we are discussing–but not necessarily the actual implementation. And that is how you should use Google Adsense.
So why are we writing about Google Adsense heat maps? Because the exact nature of what a heat map is. Wikipedia defines a heat map as: “A heat map is a graphical representation of data where the values taken by a variable in a two-dimensional map are represented as colors.” So how does that impact design? You see Google offers a free Adsense Heat Map to help webmasters to know where to place their ads. Why? Because they want to make sure that as many clicks are made so those paying for the ad space get their money’s worth. But it also means something else for those not implementing Google Adsense. These maps tell you the places on a page where you should put the content you want your visitors (and your customers) to click, explore and eventually end up. So below you will find three maps, you may click on them for a closer look at where your content should go. Of course there are many other attributes that come into play such as overall design, color scheme and the like, but this is a great general step in planning out your website. Hope it helps!
