Open Office

Open OfficeWe wanted to give a plug to the team over at Open Office. We recently downloaded their software on some new computers and it is working like a charm. If you have yet to use Open Office, or don’t know much about it, it’s simply the best free “open productivity suite” bundle on the net. It supports the ISO standard OpenDocument Format (ODF) for data interchange as its default file format, as well as Microsoft Office ‘97–2003 formats, Microsoft Office 2007 format (ability to “open” documents in version 3), among others. You can download it for free here. One tip we noticed when  installing, turn off you anti-virus or you’re likely to get an error: Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘policy.1.1.cli_types,publickeyToken=”ce2cb7e279207b9e”,version=”4.0.0.0″,culture=”neutral”. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. Turning off any virus software before the intsall works like a charm!
