We wanted to share with you this great website we came across called Spyfu.com. If you have ever tried to promote your website, or rather, tried to get your upper-management to spend on Google Adwords, here is one tool to build your case.  SpyFu allows you to “spy” on your competitors and to see what, and how much they are spending on online advertising. Started in 1999 by Velocityscape, Spyfu  uses an advanced Web Scraper to gather data from sources around the web and monitor specific data points. According to their website, every month, they extract 125 million ads and search results directly. In our tests, the info is very interesting, but should be taken with a grain of salt. More importantly, Spyfu will allow users to get a feel for their competitors online advertising activity (versus their own). We suggest you don’t take their numbers as gospel, but a general tool. And what do you have to lose when Spyfu offers so many free services for your exploration? You check out this list for a full listing of the SpyFu services (free and paid). In short, the free services include: Search by keyword, Company, Domain, Category, or Industry. The only thing is you are limited to the number of results, but you will get enough info to see Spyfu can be very useful for you and your company.
