Mark8t’s Basic Google Chrome Toolbar
As Google Chrome works it’s way through Beta, we wanted to offer Google Chrome users a quick way to access our site and get some functionality for other sites as well. Right now there are many ways (in other browsers) to do that. Up to now, Google Chrome has no toolbar. But now it does! Mark8t is proud to offer a basic toolbar for your Google Chrome Bookmark bar. We feel that the “new toolbar” for Chrome will become the Bookmark bar. Why? Because it allows for fast loading and stays with idea of simplicity, while keeping the browser window from being cramped. This was our concern with the traditional custom toolbar. Our Basic Toolbar will allow you to browse, and have an independent toolbar which can be placed where-ever you wish and without any adware, scripts or tracking! So how do you get this “toolbar”? First you will need to create a bookmarklet for Google Chrome. Here’s how:
[1] Ctrl+B and show the bookmarks bar (if it is not already present)
[2] put the mouse pointer on an empty area of the bookmarks bar
[3] right click
[4] bring down the mouse pointer and mouse highlight bar over to hover over Add page.
[5] left click
[6] give your bookmark bar button a name. (We suggest Mark8t)
[7] copy the following script into the url box.
[8] click OK
[9] click the button on your browser to activate!
Right now there is no easy way to create an image icon on Google Chrome’s bookmark bar, unless it is directly bookmarked from a page using favicon. For example if you bookmarked (CTRl+D) this page, you will see the difference. For this reason, please make sure you give it a name you remember.
As things progress with Google Chrome, our goal is to make our “toolbar” more complex. We hope in the future to include RSS feeds and much much more. Please leave comments on what you would like to see going forward. We will do our best to accommodate! Happy surfing!
