Have your ever wanted a social network or a Facebook-type application for your office, or possibly your customers? Well ELGG is for you. What is ELGG? ELGG is a web 2.0 open-source script written for PHP5, that allows you create your own Facebook-like site. It is easy to install, and quick to modify (with some tinkering). We have been working with a couple of customers recently on Elgg 1.0  and it is heads above the so-called “Classic Elgg”.  Why are social networks important for business? It’s about the eyeballs! It was recently noted, that more people spend time on Social Networking sites, than they surf for porn. About 10 years ago, 20% of searches were for Porn, but now that has fallen by 10% and Social Networks are gaining that share. This is not to say you need to implement Elgg or another social network for you company. You need to review if it makes sense and you should  focus on your niche.
