Automatic Upgrade WordPress 2.7.1 Error and Solution

WordPressAs you know, we run this blog is powered by WordPress and we just did the Automatic Upgrade with 2.7 (which is now included) to version WordPress 2.7.1. Unfortunately,  we got the below error message:

——————
Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.7.1.zip

Unpacking the core update

Verifying the unpacked files

Installing the latest version

Upgrading database

WordPress database error: [Lost connection to MySQL server during query]
SELECT option_id, autoload FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = ‘update_core’

WordPress upgraded successfully
———————————–

Before that we had the error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare pclziputilpathreduction() in /home/xxxx/public_html/blog/wp-admin/includes/class-pclzip.php on line 5432

After some testing, we were able to fix both errors  and got our site up and running without issue. We wanted to share with you our solution . If you are using WordPress 2.7 and upgrading to 2.7.1, this is the way to do it: First you need to deactivate and delete the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin. You don’t need it anymore, as Wordpress 2.7 now has it built in. The next step is to put your site into Maintenace Mode (optional), and then disable all plugins. Do the updgrade, turn off Maintenance Mode and re-enable all plug-ins. It will work like a charm and very fast. At least it did for us. Good Luck!

why don’t you use a fantastico type installer,

it will install it all by itself and you wont’ have to do anything, no modifications or something needed.

google it, and i am sure you have it in your cpanel.

This does not work, because the issue is within the CMS

This is a very good effort by you to help the users , and this policy really works , firms which keep secrets from the clients end up loosing their confidence .

keep up the good faith and marketing.
