Did you mean: Mark 8? No It’s Mark8t!
If you do a Google search for Mark8t or “Mark8t”, Google will ask “Did you mean: Mark 8″. When we came up with the name of our company several years again, we never thought we would be competing with Mark Chapter 8. You can’t beat the bible you know. Actually, you cannot beat any term where you are behind in term of results to get rid of the annoying “Did you mean”. Mark8t has a way to go. We only have over 3,460 entries in Google, but that chap Mark, and his 8th chapter is at 113,000,000 entries. We are even behind Mark8, who has 585,000 entries. So don’t forget the “T” in our name.
It also makes me happy we are not alone. Lots of people ask the question: how do you get rid of the “Did you mean” functionality in Google. The sad thing is you really can’t. Your site or term needs to become more popular than it’s competitor. So basically we need to get more than 112,996,000 pages listed in Google than Mark 8. Thankfully our name is unique enough that I am sure when someone searches for us, they don’t mean “Mark 8″. Another wonderful thing going for us, is that Yahoo! and Live, do not have this issue for our name. Nevertheless, the real point of this post is to warn those who have not yet chosen a name or domain name for their online business. Make sure you are aware of this issue. If your competitor has a similar name, they could steal your traffic. To make the process easier for you, we suggest you use Instant Domain Search to quickly find the right domain.
